On July 17, in the framework of the project "Fire Safety of Forests of Ukraine", a working meeting was held with the forestry fire extinguishing experts of the US Forest Service in the session hall of the Main department of the SES of Ukraine in Kyiv Oblast. Rescuers of the Kyiv Oblast told about their own experience of extinguishing large-scale fires in ecosystems and the Chernobyl zone with their American colleagues.
The meeting was attended by Larry Sutton, a forest fires quash specialist at the US Forest Service. He spoke about the difficulties encountered during the elimination of emergencies in ecosystems, and the representative of the International Programs of the US Forest Service in Ukraine, Petro Pavlychenko.
During the event, the issues of remedying gaps in training programs for specialists in extinguishing forest fires in Ukraine were discussed, as well as the forthcoming steps to implement US emergency management approaches in Ukrainian practice.
